This is a how-to make chocolate chip cookies video that I made my sophomore year of high school in a class called multimedia applications. I wanted to make this video because I have been told that I have the best cookie recipe. This was a fun project because I made it with my dad. I had him make the cookies so that I could choose exactly what to film. It was also pretty tough because I didn’t know exactly what kind of footage I needed. This meant that I had to make the cookies again so that I could get more footage. I am a busy gal so this was a steep obstacle. In the end I ended up changing the entire vibe of my video because I didn’t like the music I had originally chose. One thing that I am super proud of is my title slides. I knew that I wanted to have a typewriter effect on the text but that was not available on iMovie. In order to get this into my project I had to make an animated slide in keynote and import it into iMovie. This seems like a super simple action, and it is, however I didn’t know if it would actually work. It seemed like a hack that would screw up the rest of my video.

Now that I have finished my website about recipes I wanted to give some advice for future students.

1. Cite your pictures as you go. If you wait until later you are gonna lose where the pictures came from.

2. Keep a tab open of your website so that you can see what it looks like. The admin page makes your posts and pages look very different than the actual website so having the site open will save you time editing it later.

3. Do your home page first. Some themes probably don’t do what you want your homage to look like so finding a theme that works with your home page before you start the actual content will be easier. I am very picky about homepages and I don’t love how mine turned out. I wish I would have done it first so that I could change my theme without ruining my whole site.

This is a music video I made in Multimedia Apps my sophomore year of high school. I wanted to use a song that was exciting and fun and also had a lot of distinct beats. Having prominent beats makes it easier to edit and makes the video more professional. I am proudest of the part that progressively zooms in on Braxton when the song says “oh oh oh”. I think this was a cool effect that I didn’t see anyone else use. One of the most challenging parts of my video was making the videos go with the beats. I got them to match up pretty good, but then I found a clip that fit better in a certain part of the video so I went back and tried to replace it. This messed up some of the beats later on and I couldn’t fix it. If I were to do this project again I would spend more time watching all the footage and making sure I was using the best clip instead of finding one that was ‘good enough’ and then regretting it later.

Ingredients

• 6 cups all purpose flour
• 2 cups sugar
• 4 T poppy seeds
• 2 T baking powder
• 1 t baking soda
• 1 t salt
• 3 cups plain whole milk yogurt
• 4 T lemon juice
• 3 T grated lemon zest
• 4 eggs
• 16 T unsalted butter
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 1/2 cup lemon juice

1. Whisk flour, sugar, poppy seeds, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl
2. in a separate bowl whisk yogurt, lemon zest, and eggs until smooth. Gently fold yogurt fixture into flour mixture until combined. Fold in melted butter but make sure not to overmix (if you over mix, the muffins will be dense)
3. Divide batter evenly among prepared muffin cups and bake at 375º for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
4. While muffins are baking simmer sugar and lemon juice together in a sauce pan over medium heat until it turns into a light syrup (about 3-5 minutes)
5. Brush muffins with the syrup and sprinkle with sugar
6. let muffins cool for 10 minutes before serving

Sinking

What just happened? I thought as I laid in bed. Half an hour ago I was walking home from a friend’s house. I thought it was a normal night but then I tripped, I tripped on a dead body.  I’m a pretty clumsy person, but a trip over a dead body kind of person? Should I tell someone? Should I go back to see if the body is still there? Should I try to forget about it? What should I do? I tried to think about something else but I couldn’t get what the body looked like out of my mind. It was as if right before he died his feet started to sink into the pavement and he got stuck there. I have to text Autumn.

 “Sorry, it’s late, but I need to tell you something.” 

“What do you want?” 

“You won’t believe what happened when I was walking home from your house.”

“What?”

“I tripped…ON A DEAD BODY!!!!”

“Ok. Calm down.”

“Calm down?! I just tripped on a DEAD BODY!”

“That wouldn’t happen in a town as small as ours. Are you sure you weren’t just dreaming?”

“NO!…Well…Maybe I was just dreaming.”

“You probably were. Just try to go to sleep.”

After Autumn calmed me down a little I still didn’t go to sleep for another hour. I couldn’t get the image out of my mind. Something seemed so familiar about this, but I just couldn’t put my finger on it.

    The next morning I didn’t expect to see the dead body again. Who would leave a corpse in the street overnight? But then I did…at school! It was walking in the halls, very much alive! It turned to look at me and it felt like my soul had left my body. I tried to move, but I was stuck,  it felt like my feet were sinking into the dirty tile floor.
